The grass was greener
The light was brighter
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
With friends surrounded
The dawn mist growing
The water flowing
The endless river
Forever and ever

Warwick Conway
1951
Essex, UK
Originally from Southend-on-Sea,
Essex, I moved to London to attend University in 1969.
I returned to Essex for a year of employment in 1973 but
otherwise remained in London until moving to Devon in
2002.
For 23 years, I was employed as a secondary schoolteacher,
mostly in Inner London schools, teaching Science, Mathematics
and Computer Studies. For much of this time I was also
a single-parent to my two children. I became a grandfather
in 2003.
I acquired
my first guitar in 1969 and was content to play mainly
acoustic styles, as a self-taught hobby, for some 20 years.
Realising a need to extend my repertoire of guitar skills,
I then undertook a more serious study of guitar (lead,
electric, jazz) and music with Robert
Percy (from 1992).
In
1996, I took an early retirement from my teaching career,
assembled a 16-track home recording studio and returned
to University to study Musical Instrument Technology at
London, Guildhall University where I specialised in the
design and construction of MIDI-enabled, solid-bodied,
electric guitars. Since graduating in 1999, I have worked
as a guitar technician, luthier and tutor.
